    2019 Leaderboard Rules (Part 2)

    continued-

Grade 3 consist of all (15 hour) All Age or Open trials.
ALL State Trials, FUTURITY and standard 3-day events

Grade 4 & 4-A consists of all two day (10 hour) - Derby trials.
    All Derby Trials

Grade 5 consists of all one day 8 hour trials. (8 hour trials must be judged for 8 hours to qualify for points) - All age or derby trials.

    23. “Franchise” Trial Qualification- Any Region 1 field trial with an AA or Open class entry of 150+ hounds or a Region 2 field trial with an AA or Open class entry of 100+ hounds, signing a Master’s Franchise Field Trial contract and meeting the minimum entry requirements, will automatically be upgraded from a Grade 3 to a Grade 2 level in the AA class in leaderboard points. Franchise trials which also host a derby class in addition to the AA class, will be upgraded from a Grade 4 to 4A and receive Grade 4A level in leaderboard points if the Derby class meets the Regional minimum entry level for eligibility.
    i. Region 1- VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN
ii. Region 2- AL, MS, LA, AR, TX, MO, IL, IN, KY, WV, OH, OK, CAN
    6. Any Region 1 or Region 2 single class derby trial, with an entry of 100+ hounds, signing a Master’s Franchise Field trial contract and meeting the minimum entry requirements will automatically be upgraded from a Grade 4 to a Grade 4A class in leaderboard points.

    24. Corporate trials such as the Southern Star, Hunters Horn Breeders Cup, etc. which host or only consist of a derby class will receive Grade 4-A level in leaderboard points.

The 7 charts immediately below show the base points to be awarded for each winner. For example, the base points for a Grade 3, 3rd place All-Age winner would be 270 points. If the hound also won the Combination, base points would get an additional 60 points. If the field trial class (AA) has 95 hounds entered, take the 270 + 60 = 330 points and multiply by .8 to get 264. These 264 points would go toward Hound of the Year for this hound, as well as the Sire, Dam and Kennel. The same calculation would apply if 120 hounds were in a class. 270 + 60 = 330 points multiplied by 1.00 to get 330 points.

    25. In order to reward hounds and kennels that have the ability to compete at a high level in many different parts of the country, hounds & kennels will be awarded BONUS “travel” points at the end of the year towards HOY & KOY. For each facility or hunting ground that a hound or kennel places in the top 10 HGA or GTP at a qualified leaderboard field trial, that hound & kennel will receive 50 bonus points toward HOY & KOY. These bonus “travel” points apply to HOY & KOY only and are not transferred to DOY, or SOY.
    Example
i.e. a hound & kennel placing in Top 10 HGA or GTP at Creedmoor, NC would receive 50 bonus points and if they also placed at Hallsboro, NC, they would receive an additional 50 bonus points, etc. Or, if a hound or kennel places in Greneda, MS, they would receive 50 bonus points and another 50 points if they place at Harrisville, MS and another 50 points if they place at Picayune, MS.

For calculation purposes, this BONUS will be calculated on the Top 50 hounds and added to the final totals AT YEAR'S END, to determine the final top 20 in HOY & KOY.

    26. The top 12 highest point field trials still apply for calculating the final KOY, SOY, DOY – For SOY & DOY, the limit is only 6 of those 12 can be from one pen, the other 6 must be from a different pen. For KOY, the limit is only 4 of those 12 can be from a single pen, the other 8 must be from two or more different pens. Keep in mind that when a derby trial and an all age trial are run together – they are still considered 2 separate field trial events.
