As an adult who has had Tourette\'s since age 8 I found this site to be wonderful! I was the only child in my rural town who had a tic disorder, I was blessed that many of the other children just accepted me and never questioned that I was different. It wasn\'t until I got older that I felt out of place and different. Today, I embrace my uniqueness and I know that there are many others who are just like me :) I\'m so pleased to see that this site reaches children and parents and lets them know that it\'s ok to be different! Great job Dr. Dunc!

My son was 7 when we noticed his tourettes. It was mostly neck and shoulder jerking. When he was 10 by luck we registered him in a soccer club that made him busy 3-4 times a week. Apparently this was a miracle to him since it boosted his confidence and we saw him getting better and better every day. He is 16 now and we rarely see some minor nose or chicks jerking from him which are not quite noticeable to others. I highly suggest that you get your child involved in a sport in a professional way and hope that this also saves your child the same way.

hey, its me again, I meant to add more to that last post but got distracted, (happens a lot) well, here\'s the rest. ... You have dealt with my brother, and have been a life saver in our household. I just wanted to say Thank You. On a completely other topic, for a school project, my friends and I made a video on Living with ADHD, my teacher was really impressed, and said he could see it going places and doing things. Well my reason for telling you this is I was wondering on whether or not you would like to see it, I have permission from everyone in the video to put it on the internet, and have people use it in presentations. Hey, I\'m 17 and have grown up with and around Tourette Syndrome since I was little. Not only Tourette\'s, but ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, and sensory sensitivity. It wasn\'t always easy growing up, but I have come a long way since I was first diagnosed at age three, and actually have a positive outlook on everything. I have only just started looking at your website and I could cry. I have the funniest, coolest, cleverst 7 year old son with TS. He was also just diagnosed with simple partial seizures which is a totally unrelated yet also neurological condition. We tell him he has a quirky little brain. He is struggling though, trying to understand why this is the way it is for him. I just read the articles about all the positives for having TS and I could see my lovely boy in there. I have Tourettes and OCD and I do agree with you that it feels like there is a devil inside of you controlling your every move. I am on meds and they help alot, no one knows I have it. I have met people with Tourettes and its brought us closer in a sense. I know that I am unique but I also know that I am not alone :)
I hope to help others someday, like how you have helped me to know that I am not a monster, but in another way of course. Relationships are hard and so is dealing with society but my modo is Never surrender :)

youtube videos are the only way to stop me feeling alone for a while (except tourettes guy i absolutely hate him)

i have alot of questions for you one question that i would like to know is how do you live your everyday life without taking medication? when i dont take my meds/ i go absolutely crazy and start acting up. have u ever had someone immitate or mock you tics? cuz i have and when i tell people why i do these things, they just go on with it. how did u become a doctor? along with my ts and ocd i have a learning disability.. math and science are my 2 worst subjects, their is so much i want to do in life but i am not sure wether or not i can handle the work, for instance i wanted to be apart of the FBI, or even a SOCIAL WORKER. i wentto one of your disscussions about ts with my mom, do u ever see ppl looking down on you? My last question for you today is when u hear that voice inside of you AKA the (devil)how do u get rid of the bad things the voice is telling you... Thanks for listening your a great role model

I am almost 16 and i have tourette syndrom and OCD, everyday i go through life wondering if any of it will be different,im on medication, and i know that im am unique and special in my own way. My question for you DR. Dunc is have u ever asked yourself why did i get diagnosed with this? My tics are really bad when i get frusterated, how do you deal with them?
