Re: Opportunities and growth in the caregiving profession
I started with the simplest of things - helping around the house, babysitting the elderly, nothing special. But as time went on, I started to notice that I had more and more skills and they started to take me more seriously. I took an HHA course, and then I started looking for live-in jobs. Through hha jobs philadelphia pa found a good job, where not only stable payment, but also give the opportunity to learn, improve skills. If there is a desire, you can move forward - at least in medicine, or in the organization of care. The main thing is not to stand still.
Re: Opportunities and growth in the caregiving profession
I read with interest all the discussions on this topic. I am not in this profession yet, but many times I have heard good reviews from acquaintances who work as caregivers. People say that not only experience but also attitude is very important in this field. It's nice to see discussions about not only “how to get settled” but also “where to go next”.
Re: Opportunities and growth in the caregiving profession
Hi! I'm planning to move to Canada and I'm considering working as a nanny or caregiver. I have experience, I love children and caring for the elderly, but I don't know where to actually look for such vacancies. Maybe someone has already been hired? Are there any agencies that actually help, and not just collect applications?
Re: Opportunities and growth in the caregiving profession
Hi! I moved to Toronto a year ago and also started as a nanny - the job turned out to be not only stable, but also very soulful. The job agency website at https://jobssite.ca/ helped me a lot. There is a separate section for caregiving vacancies, including nannies, nurses and housekeepers. The main thing is to write a good profile and be sure to include experience and recommendations. Many families search through such platforms because it is convenient and safe. I responded to three offers, and one family invited me for an interview a week later. So I advise you to definitely try it - the site really works and is aimed at those who are just starting out.
Re: Opportunities and growth in the caregiving profession
I can totally relate to how you ended up in caregiving. It’s a profession that can really grow on you. As for career growth, there are definitely opportunities in the field, especially if you consider gaining more qualifications or moving into specialized care. Many people start with caregiving and go on to take more advanced roles. If you're thinking about exploring more opportunities, there are some available right here that could help you expand your experience.
