One of my ancestor was Roberto Delahanty. He was born in Carrick on Suir in 1710 his father was William Delahanty and his mother Eleonora Tuirney. I wonder if the two surnames are the same. |

I am a descendant of John and Margaret Delahanty (early 1800) (sometimes spelled Delehenty or Delahunty) of Ireland. Do not have any further info re: where in Ireland. Their son Patrick settled in Rutland MA, USA and there we have many descendants. |

Thanks for your website! I am trying to search the family history of my father\'s family - Dulenty. It appears that the name likely was a change from Delahunty and our oral family history is that 2 brothers travelled to New Brunswick from Ireland in the early to mid-1800\'s. One brother (John) settled in the southern part of the province (what is now Port Elgin, Bayfield area) but it\'s not clear where the other brother (is thought to have been Thomas) settled - though there is a large group of Delahunty\'s in the Mirimichi area of the province and many records for that family. I am having difficulty finding specifics and tracing beyond my great-great grandparents John James Dulenty (b. 1852 or 56, d. 1928) & Nancy Grant (b.?, d. 1923) married 1874 in Westmorland County (though his name was spelled Dellunty on the marriage certificate). Would really appreciate to hear from anyone who may have more information for my family. Thanks and best regards to all! |

I am looking for the origin of the name Delahunty. Is it French? If so, did they come to Waterford with the Huguenots? Love the website Paul. |
