Fr. Tom Stoker, from Leeds, was appointed an Army Chaplain in 1943
and the following year was in the thick of D-DAY.
Fr Stoker was superior at St. Columba's from '60 through '63
when I was a student there - will we ever forget him ???
Fr Stoker was later giving retreats in occupied Germany. See Martin Dempsey, ed: The Priest among the Soldiers, London, Burns and Oates,1947. If you can find it! I think he comes into Aylward Shorter's book as well. Enough PTSD there to say tout comprendre c'est tout pardoner!
