Re: Who has the best pack?

    David Parker and Davy Hackett

Re: Who has the best pack?

Poon, how many are they taking when they go. Man that's strong. Are they trailing them too or are they playing a tape. I am just asking, I'm not insenuating nothing so don't take it the wrong way. Man that sounds like a mean pack of hounds. Maybe even a ALLSTAR TEAM.

Re: Who has the best pack?

I'm with Poon on the Hoggard boys. They hunt 35 to 40 head and are always complaining about how sorry their dogs are. I would love to see what they call a good pack if theirs ain't.

Re: Who has the best pack?

    Bodean and snake phillps

Re: Who has the best pack?

Regardless of how you get after him, he is still caught. Get after him any way you can. But I promise you they do not have to have a tape.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Glenn Willoughby (Poon) has got the nicest group (12 to 15) that I've ever hunted with! A man that can go hunting right by himself and catch foxes and cats in short order on a regular basis says alot for the caliber of dogs he keeps and true hunter that he is!Oh yeah, thanks for letting me tag along with my plugs every now and then!!(BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

Different strokes for different folks. Me personally, I ain't useing no tape. JUST MY OPINION. If at least one of mine can't find him he'll just live to run another day. To me that tape is about as bad as the wire.

Re: Who has the best pack?

I was wondering who puts down 2 to 4 dogs and can catch a coyote in quick fashion? Sorry if I put this on the wrong thread. I only run yotes here in central Illinois and only hunt 2 or 3 dogs at a time and wondered if there were others out there like me. I do not spike and I do not dump on yotes by sight neither. Just wondered if anybody out there had the kind of dogs I may be interested in.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Nothing is as bad as going hunting and not get after something.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Unless you're like some folks around here and like to watch them trot the raod in front of the truck all day

Re: Who has the best pack?

    I couldn't agree more poon.

Re: Who has the best pack?

The Hoggard Family has been consecutively catching Game for over 40 years Donald and Glen at first and Daryl for the last few years. They can catch them in the Dark just like the Daytime and stick close to their own Breeding Plan.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Barber, thanks for the nice words but......I would rather have a good dog.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Glenn and that crew are hard to top.I wouldnt be afraid to put them up against any group of fox hunters anywhere.I dont care how big the name or how many times you see their names on them breeding papers,I guarantee they can't catch game as consistent as them boys can. They are the best I know of and have been for quite a few years and beleive it or not they dont have any champions to speak of.LOL

Re: Who has the best pack?

Poon,I don't know where in the world to get you one from. I guess we'll just have to keep breeding between the dog pens and cross our fingers until we get one that might be close! I've always wanted a good one myself!(BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

You sure can't get one using that tape.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Man ya'll had me fooled. I thought ya'll were real fox hunters.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Heck naw James we're just stunt doubles!Sorry we fooled you I know that wasn't an easy thing to do!(BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

The worst thing you can have is too puch pride, aint it Barber?

Re: Who has the best pack?

Bubba when it's late in the 4th quarter sometimes we have to use the hurry up offense!Nothing worse than coming home empty handed! (BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

How do you know James, you ever tried?

Re: Who has the best pack?

Poon, I always thought that the tape was the best jump dog around, especially with the crowd I go with.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Kevin, one thing for sure; ole "Rat" is solid broke. When he barks its a fox, no dought! I have several dogs that I turn out to trail and jump. They do a pretty good job if you get them around a fox. I do not have to have a tape to jump a fox. But,..... sometimes its mighty nice to have and the race is just as good.

Re: Who has the best pack?

No, I hain't ever used one and don't intend to. Ya'll get up here and talk all about fox huntin and you use a tape. Like I said, ya'll had me fooled. Chris it probably ain't that hard to fool me because I take things in as black or white, or one or the other. I know what my 80yr. old uncle would call it. He tell you right quick that that is the easy way and ain't much different than the wire.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Just cause he's eighty doesn't mean he knows a dog. I know plenty of old men that have hunted all their life and the last 25 years I been around them they haven't owned one worth feedin.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Thats right Poon, jumping him is just the first step. I kinda like going hunting and running something, not beating and slamming all day doing nothing.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Kyle I ain't going to try and tell you about who knows a dog and who don't. But I will tell you this I was talking to Poon and Chris and when I want an opinion from a lowly deer hunter like you,(that's what you call yourself) I'll ask for it. I don't know the older men you been around but I know my uncle.

Re: Who has the best pack?

James you make it sound like using a tape every now and then, is a free pass to tailing a fox.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Kyle let me ask you something. Are you your self a FOX HUNTER. Not your good buddy or your brother in-law or your sister or you cousin's uncle but are you a FOX HUNTER? And I never said anything about tailing a fox I said it was the EASY WAY, AND NOT MUCH TO IT

Re: Who has the best pack?

No sir. I've never claimed to be a real foxhunter. Be easy there big fella, you seem to be gettin riled up just a bit. You got me pegged... I'm just a lowly deer hunter.

Re: Who has the best pack?

I like to get on here and read, but Kyle you never say anything positive, you always go against the grain to slam something, Is your life that miserable?

Re: Who has the best pack?

I wish they made a deer tape!! Seen days id play it till my speakers broke!

Re: Who has the best pack?

STOTES.....i thought you said last week after your little time out that you were going to post what people wanted to hear.....i don't think your doing that in this case

Re: Who has the best pack?

James, I'd say its easier than the wire as far as gettin after him. There is nothing to jumping one if he will come to the tape. My wife can do that!

Re: Who has the best pack?

I am not saying it is right or wrong to use the call. I am saying when it works, it works real good!

Re: Who has the best pack?

James are you too proud to put after a volunteer too?

Re: Who has the best pack?

You're right Poon anyone can call one up but cant everyone stay after him and catch him! And James I'm sure there probably want no such of thing as a tape or tape player back when your uncle was hunting but I bet a lot of folks back then would have loved to have it on a record! (BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

When you hunt the areas we do, unless you are off work 7 days a week, you better have a plan B! Houses on top of houses, this landowner don't want you here, this one has horses and so forth and so on. You don't have time for the "trail" dog to look under every leaf and every pile of brush. Or you better have something that can hunt quick, if its not hot leave it alone and move on, thats the kind of hunting dog I want. Hey Ive seen alot of foxes called up and not run him a step!

Re: Who has the best pack?

when they came out with pickup trucks, the old timers said they ain't hauling their dogs in no truck bed. A real hound will walk with his master or follow the horse. When they came out with CB radio the old timers said they didn't need one to stay in the hunt.But.......they all got one.

Re: Who has the best pack?

You all ain't got to explain yourselves to me. I was just giving my opinion, my point of veiw. You play your tape and I'll keep huntin the way I always have. It maybe the hard way but its the way I beleive in. I understand about all the obsticles, I fight withem too. I just couldn't do it that way. Call it pride or what ever. It is what it is.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Hey Vince, has your betch started showing that was bred to Sonny?

Re: Who has the best pack?

Naw, not yet Poon. The 2 I bred to Radar have caught! 1 should find pups in 2.5 weeks the other about in about 3.5 weeks. I will let you know if she has caught as soon as I can tell.

Re: Who has the best pack?

Poon what are you still doing up? Sure hope the rain will hold off for a little while in the morning! Love to have at least one like last Sunday!!(BARBER)

Re: Who has the best pack?

Reggie Edwards and Jeff Williams out of Grimesland have two packs that can catch a fox quick. All are broke foxhounds and handle like a baby. Reggie and his famous ch.midnite threw alot of hounds in CH bloodlines today. Highball, Jenny, MR. Fred and the list goes on.
