ive got a bluetick walker cross about 10 months old and he does alrite with a pack but when i turn him loose by himself he seems to run 1 deer for a few minutes then come back to where we jumped and take off in another direction like on another deer any suggestions on what i can do to keep on 1 deer for a longer period of time or why this is. when with a pack he will run as long as the rest
With him only being about 10 months old i would just give him a little more time.Hunting him is the best thing you can do for him. hunt him hard for the next few months. A lot of people give up on puppies to early. If no improvement then.... Well i wouldnt feed him much longer than a year
were i run ticks won't make it. i have seen 10 month dogs i would trade my whole pack for . but at that age and there coming back to the truck only one thing to to. i wouldnt even give somebody my junck
keep in mind that blue ticks, english, red bones and plotts are more social than walkers. they tend to try to hunt close to the handler for a while. hunt him and hunt him consistantly. he will grow to learn what you want. a lot of ticks dont get their legs under them till about a year to 16 months old.
at least thats been my experience with them. when i was a kid my grandfather wouldnt even start a tick till they were a year old. and he had some good ones.
