Jason, yes I know exactly what they want to do. They do want to catch, they expect to catch, and they intend to catch, butttttt, I don't let them(if we can prevent it). Sometimes they do catch and there is nothing we can do to stop it but I hate it when it happens!!!! That fox or coyote will never again give me the enjoyment of providing a race for me to enjoy and instead of being a beautiful wild free animal I now have a dead stinking chewed up animal. In the pens I run in they are mostly stocked with coyotes and the coyotes have learned to get against the wire inside the electric wire and when I hear my dogs bay I get to them quick in order to save the game so I can enjoy it another day. I remember when I was a 16 yr old boy I was hunting with a grown hunter friend of mine and we ran a red most of the night and she ran up into an old culvert that had caved in on one end and the dogs were trying to get to her and my friend wanted to put a rope on her and drag her out and let the dogs kill her. I couldn't believe it and I would not let him do it and he got pretty mad at me but I just think that was stupid to kill a beautiful animal for no reason. Now if they accidently run one down and kill it, I can't help it and so be it but I do everything I can to preserve the game, I don't see anything good about a dead stinking coyote or fox carcus and I see lots good about the animal alive, they can run another night and I can hear my hounds run them which is what I enjoy doing!!!
