The 2022 Chase-Pride "Test of the Best" Winners

The Chase-Pride “Test of the Best” competition has a way of bringing out the best in hounds and hunters who are serious in their pursuit of excellence. Last year marked the fourteenth consecutive year that this competition has taken place with a history of memorable individuals placing at or near the top. This past year was a first-time stunner however, because the top five finishers in the One Day division were all from the same kennel. Congratulations to Donald Newheart and Michael Whitley of Old School Kennel who along with Brandon Whisenant, put the exclamation point on precision. The number one hound, B&B’s Moon Pie, was one of three littermates in a nucleus of exceptional hounds on an elite list.

Consistency is at the core of the “Test of the Best” and the winner of the Puppy division last year had been in the winner’s circle before. Ryan Beddingfield of Bedrock Kennel came off a win in 2021, to repeat again with a hound by the name of Bedrock’s Zeek. There was another hunter whose name is familiar to the top five, Daniel Stewart of Rollin Thunder Kennel, who posthumously placed his good young female, Stewart’s Sundrop. Each of the hounds that follow will be recognized during the Chase Shootout later this month in Liberty, KY:
