Yesterday I got word that Gene "Genie" Mitchell passed away, after complications due to surgery.

Gene raised, trained, & trialed "foxhounds" for many, many years! He also judged quite a number of field trials over the years!

He knew "pedigrees" on all the famous hounds from the past. And could usually give you two to three generations, all from memory.

For the past few years Gene had been having health problems, & had not been around the fox hunting community!

I was asked to post this, so his friends and acquaintances would know of his passing.

To my knowledge there will be no obituary notice the burial will be private!

I am sorry about Gene Mitchell. I remember him and his wife judge at Fox-E-Fox at Hallsboro NC.
