Recently dog hunters have come under attack and been harassed by the Halifax County (NC) Sheriffs Department. If you stop on the side of the road to pick up dogs you will get a ticket. This week we had a deputy that we are told was off duty and was stopping hunters and issuing tickets. It is a plain and utter effort to put an end to dog hunting in this county. Last week we had deputies all week following our hunters and stopping them on the roadside. Fortunately no tickets were issued then. Most of this is encouraged by a retired game warden with and ax to grind against our club. I hope he realizes this only makes us more determined to *****vere. Our sheriff was elected by deer hunters and could lose the next election by deer hunters. If you are experiencing the same harassment that we are then let your voice be heard.
