In today's world of fox chasing and field trialing, hounds like Buddy Watts and Burris Hill Tom probably don't mean much. But when you get the opportunity to run with a true gentleman and houndsman by the name of Jim Setzer like I did last night you know you are Truly blessed. To hear the stories of those long ago fox races and those legendary hounds is what has driven my passion for this for decades. Oh by the way did I mention Jim is 88 years old, loads his own hounds, sits up all night with an old fuel burning lantern and his companion Oscar the Schnauzer at his side and is just absolutely amazing. Those stories of the Nationals in Starkville Mississippi will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. The hounds that he runs are as game and true as you could ask for. Be glad these old fellas don't field trial any more. Well enough rambling, like I said, what a treat to have Jim Setzer as my friend and running partner.
You are right it is a great and a blessing to hear great stories of the old timers some of them hounds were legendary, they often have old dog hunts should have a old timers hunt to get all those fellas together for some story telling and hell you know some of us would learn a lot judging would be hard I would want to hear all the talk and stories, just rambling .
