I believe that there are two reasons that you can't find a hound like that any more. The first is everyone wants a speed demon and nose doesn't matter any more. The second cause is the Garmin Alpha. The hunters are catching the hounds off a track or as soon as they quit running. The hounds do not have a chance to make their way back home or to the original place they were cast. Eventually the hounds lose their homing ability. It's like they always say "if you don't use it you lose it".

I agree totally. Most dogs today like to listen to a race as good as I do lol. Me personally if I got my collar on a dog he gunna b able to find an run his own game. That's y I like being able to raise my pups on the yard that way they gotta come home

I'm still lucky I leave mine loose all summer if I have a young dog that doesn't learn to come home that one has to find a new home I deer hunt and field trial the.same dogs don't to many get to stay with me long
