Hunters who use dogs commit less than 2% of all wildlife violations while they are 65% of those who hunt!
This is an attack on dog ownership, not just hunting dogs, which will pit neighbor against neighbor as it is used as a tool of revenge for the slightest grievance. This bill applies to ALL dogs.
This bill will END THE RIGHT TO RETRIEVE and the 400 year Virginia heritage of hunting with dogs.
All of the legitimate tools necessary are already available for use against criminal trespass by the use of dogs. Last year's trespass bill, that Delegate Fariss sponsored, closed the last loophole to the enforcement of intentional acts of releasing dogs to trespass.
This Bill is designed to END HUNTING WITH DOGS by attacking accidental or unintentional dog trespass.
This bill calls for the use of blue paint to mark trees for posting against dogs. Blue is the standard color used by timber companies, who lease land to dog clubs, to mark their land. Blue is not visible at night without bright lights.
This will be a tremendous unfunded expense for Sheriff Departments, Animal Control and Police Departments.
This is part of the national agenda to end hunting with dogs, promote hunting over bait and facilitate commercial hunting not a bill to deal with “bad actor” hunters.

PLEASE......Make your calls! It take less than 30 minutes. Most all are taking information and keeping a record of calls opposing & supporting this bad dog bill! A couple will be "recordings", leave a nice message asking the Delegate to OPPOSE HB1900! The Speaker may call this Committee in session at most any time, so it is imperative to call today! For the love of "hound hunting" & our "hunting tradition".......CALL NOW...or don't complain if we lose what we love! Thanks in advance to each of you that call and make our voices heard! As most of you know the vote on this bill has been moved to this Tuesday January 31. Please, you still have time to call again in opposition to this bill. Usually when this happens there has possibly been a compromise to the wording of this bill. Please be watching closely. We need everyone to support killing this bill.
