Tar River Preserve is excited to announce the 2016 schedule. Please come and visit us and support one of the wonderful associations and hunts we are hosting this year. We would also encourage you to support your "home" preserves in your respective state if you are not a resident of North Carolina and if you are a fellow Tarheel, all preserves in our state could use your patronage. We are all ONE COMMUNITY and to keep the sport of hound running alive, it takes all of us pulling together. We at Tar River have also been honored to have other preserve operators parti****te in hunts at our facility over the last several years. When our schedule allows, we love to visit other preserves and our gratitude is extended to you all for your continued dedication and hard work keeping facilities all across the United States and Canada open for the pleasure of others.

We strongly urge you to support the companies that help us all year after year contributing and donating items, goods, wares, time and effort. The Pride, Showtime, Johnson's Telemetry, Johnson's Dog Supplies, Black Gold, Sportmix, The Hunter's Horn, The Chase, Specialty Feeds, just to name a few. These companies and their representatives are instrumental in ensuring successful hunts for us all to enjoy. Show your appreciation for them when you can and buy their products.

2016 SCHEDULE

February 20th - Warren County 1-day The Warren County Hunt will be held February 20, 2016 at Tar River in Creedmore. To run in the hunt you must live in the county or be an active member of a hunting club in the county. The hunt will be a one class HGA with a bench show after the hunt. Roy Mullet Shearin will start giving out numbers Monday December 14 2015. Entry fee will be 25.00 dollars a hound and 10.00 to eat breakfast and lunch. February 27th - Ridgeway Fire Department 1-day The Ridgeway Firemen will hold its 13th annual One Day Speed and Drive with a Bench Show at the Tar River Fox Pen on February 26th and 27th, 2016. This is a two class hunt with Tommy McLamb serving as the MOH and Trenton Evans as the Bench Show Judge. The Bench Show will be on Friday night at 8pm and we will cast the hounds at daylight on Saturday morning. Food will be for sale Friday night and all day Saturday. We will start taking entries on Friday at 3pm until 10pm and Saturday morning at 5am until cast. Derby #'s 0-299 and the 900's. All-Age #'s 300-899. To reserve numbers call Jonathan Bender at 252-213-2661. I will start reserving numbers on January 2, 2016. The book will be open at 8am on Saturday January 2nd. Ruger 22 cal rifles to both speed and drive winners and we will raffle off a Henry 22 Silver Boy the day of the hunt. A FFL agent will be on hand to issue out the guns

March 19th - Eastern Foxhunter's Association 1-day

April 8-10 - The Legacy, American Foxhunter's Association 3-day
The American Foxhunters Association, Inc. presents the "American Legacy Field Trial & Bench Show to be held at Tar River Fox Preserve President- Robin D. Barefoot, Secretary- Brenda Turner.
This will be a Derby & All Age Field Trial. Ran under AFHA GTP Rules. Entry Fee $75. No Membership Fee.

Tar River Fox Preserve will serve a Free Welcome meal Friday, April 8th, prior to the Bench Show.
