VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

The VLA Group is comprised of a lot of jealous hunters. They see bucks on trail cameras, still hunt them a bunch and a lot of times never get a chance to kill one or even see one other than on their game cameras - And when a neighboring dog hunting club, or even neighboring still hunter kills "their" buck, instead of using logical thinking and knowing there are a enormous amount of factors that could cause a buck to not show himself on their property - they blame dogs a lot of the time - a scapegoat for them-

Deer are WILD ANIMALS! Big bucks have huge extended home ranges and change their patterns frequently to avoid predators, to find better food, to chase doe, to avoid still hunting pressure (they smelled or saw you in your giant tree stand and moved on)...........they are simply very smart at avoiding you.

The VLA mindset is to look for someone/something to blame instead of realizing and accepting what I call "the variables of the wilderness." I mean, they spent all this time planting food plots, hanging stands, clearing shooting lanes, (creating a false environment) and if they don't kill a big buck this year, well, then, it has to be someone else's fault! Not their own! In their mind they think "darn deer dogs must have been in here" grumble....grumble....

IN SHORT, THEY THINK THE "HUNT" OWES THEM SOMETHING - they spent lots of hours on those plots, money on all those game cameras, and they spent a lot of time in the woods - No one better kill THEIR DEER.

I congratulate a hunter for killing a nice buck, even if I had been hunting that deer. You can't kill them all, and if I was that uptight about hunting - I wouldn't have any FUN!

SO REMEMBER ONE THING VLA JEALOUS LANDOWNERS - YOU CANT OWN A DEER. PERIOD.

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

Chill out.....I own several acres of pasture and soybeans in Tn. and feed many deer for gun hunters. Deer dogs have never been legal here. Deer are a problem for me as a fox hunter as well as farmer.Hek, my son just hit one and its gonna cost me to fix his radiator in the old truck.....No deer hunter in my state cares what the state managed deer herd did to fox hunting .......Do you?

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

I don't know what is going on in TN. What has the state managed deer herd done to fox hunting? too many deer?

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

One of the problems is too many people watch these hunting shows on TV and now they think that they can do the same. TV hunting shows have ruined a lot of the hunters. Everybody thinks they can turn their 100 acres sometimes even less into Realtree Farms. Well I can tell you that ain't going to happen because deer roam way too far. There was a large tract of land not too far from where I live where the landowner wouldn't allow any dog hunting trying to establish a preserve well guess what. The deer got all messed up looking and they let the deer dog hunters come in to get the population down because the still hunters were not doing it. I have a neighbor of mine that likes to use the phrase MY DEER. The deer don't belong to no individual.

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

exactly. glad to know some people understand what I am saying. I agree the hunting shows are killing real life hunting, that is why I am more proud to kill a 120 inch buck in central va than a 180 that was basically "farmed" on a nature preserve. "cut the feeder on and get ready"..........

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

    Mr. Melton,

This is a new one. Let me see if I follow....because I want to be left alone on my own land, and want laws in place that give me a way to enjoy my own land as I see fit, that makes me jealous of my neighbors buck kill?

I am having a hard time following that logic.

Heck, if I got jealous of everyone who killed bigger or more deer than me, I'd spend 24-7-365 wracked with jealousy. As far as I can tell from websites like Va Whitetail Deer pretty much everyone kills bigger and more deer than me. But, I'm pretty sure that is a completely separate issue than just wanting to be left alone on my own land.

I have seen a lot of different reasons given by deer dog hunters as to why they think the VLA wants to see regulations put in place for deer hound hunting....commercial hunting, baiting, and now, jealousy. These reasons are all too complicated. All the VLA landowner's want is to be left alone on their own private property.

It's really that simple. Stay off someone else's land. I don't understand how anyone can think I am in the wrong when all I want is to be left alone on my own land. That's it. Leave me alone and, I promise, I will do the same.

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

maybe your not prone to be the jealous type. But I know a bunch of VLA guys and I do in fact know what motivates them to be a part of that group. Jealousy. They think that because they don't kill a monster buck every year that it is because deer dogs made all the deer nocturnal or ran them of their property. THEIR DEER! - they get all worked up when they see a pic of a buck that someone else killed, especially if close to the property they hunt.

Re: VLA Group's Mindset/ Way of thinking

VLA and the ban page are simply traitors to hunters in general. They have rallied support from out of state and anti hunters to get their way.
