Everytime I go to load young dogs in the dogs box I put them on a lead and try just for the short distance of from the dog kennels to the truck and when I catch them even if close to the truck I snap a lead on them. Just a little at time like that. After awhile they usally will lead like a dream.
Putting them on a chain or tie out helps a lot too.
Best not to drag them when they balk, just tighten lead with a little pressure on em, when they give maybe just a little to the pressure give em some slack, if you pull them they will pull back, pressure and release just like training a horse, they'll figure it out.
I connect a 50ft lead to collar. Walk away from them holding on to the lead and gradually pull them to me. Repeat this a few times until they get the idea. Works better if you have a shock collar to assist. Wish I would have been doing it this way for years. Worked great on my last litter.
