If you like to deer hunt with dogs on Weyerhaeuser lands in NC or if you like to run fox or coyote in the enclosures/preserves/pens anywhere in NC, you will want to read Gary's post below. All one has to do is look at Florida, Louisiana and Virginia to see that loss of those dog hunting privileges (i.e., NOT rights!) can disappear while you sit on your hands and think it won't happen here. GET INVOLVED!

Folks, the time to start the fight to preserve deer hound hunting, field trialing, and the fox preserves in North Carolina is TODAY!
Become ACTIVELY involved in the organizations that are fighting to continue that privilege!
Get to know the political representatives in your area! Insure they are PRO hound hunting! And if not work to see to it that they are not elected! Conversely support those politicians that do support hound hunting, and put forth an effort to help & support their election! The time has gone when you can sit back and let everyone else "do it"!
As a hunt club or fox hunting/field trial organization, make political contributions as an organization...numbers of voters do matter to them and will get their attention!
And importantly...if you are not a registered voter....REGISTER TO VOTE!
That is the way to make your voice heard! Not just in the privilege to dog hunt, but to put this country back on the road to being the greatest, strongest, and most free nation in the world! Our "freedoms" are gradually being taken away!
The organizations which will be your major opponents in this fight are very strongly financed, with millions of dollars which they will spend to eradicate hunting with dogs, field trials, fox preserves, dog ownership, and on and on!! They are radical groups, and politically connected due to the large amounts of money which they donate to various politicians, to get them to "do their dirty work"!! HSUS has lobbying organizations nation wide! PETA has money to spend and will stop at almost nothing to further their agenda!
Get to know the membership of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, know the members, do not be afraid to send them emails or phone calls to let them know your position in favor of hound hunting, fox preserves, etc. These are the people that are to represent you with regard to hunting, fishing, etc, in North Carolina!
North Carolina may be the next battleground, but folks if you live in any state that has hound hunting of any type....get ready...because they will be coming to visit the politicians in your state and try to butt their way in and promote their agenda's! Look at what has happened in Louisiana!
Look at what has happened to deer hunting in Georgia, and Florida!
STAND STRONG...SUPPORT HOUND HUNTING...BE A RESPONSIBLE HUNTER!!

PS: We even have hunters in Virginia that have formed an organization to end the right to retrieve law, effectively to end hound hunting, even to the point of objecting to fox hunting with hounds, and though not stated, put an end to "dog hunting" period! They are doing all they can to drive a wedge between hunters of all types. So you can see that even your so-called fellow hunter, can and may turn against you! Know your enemy, and watch them closely !!
