    Moving Forward in 2016

The future and success of field trialing rests on all of our shoulders and in order for this sport to “live” on, the knowledge that each of us holds must be passed on to the younger generations.

I am proud to announce to everyone that this past week, the Masters directors approved for the establishment of a 2016 “Youth” Leaderboard points program. It was proposed that the Leaderboard committee adopt a set of guidelines for the 1-day and 2-day 2016 Youth hunts that may be hosted throughout the country. The Leaderboard committee will track the Youth points based solely on hunts hosted for them. At the end of the year, the Master’s and its sponsors will recognize and reward the Top 10-20 Youth at the annual Masters Banquet. A small group of individuals is being formed to help rejuvenate the Youth hunts. Their responsibility will be to outline and assist with establishing some teaching activities associated with the sport such as: Bench Showing seminars, tracking/training seminars, painting numbers seminars, judging seminars, etc. This group will work to assist the current Youth hunt directors on presenting teaching activities to the attending kids. We welcome anyone interested in volunteering to assist us in hosting some Youth hunts throughout the country. We will be posting more details of the program in the upcoming months.

Also new for 2016 will be an opportunity for hunts to possibly increase their AA or Open Class Leaderboard Grade status from a Grade 3 to a Grade 2 by becoming a “Franchise” hunt. Franchise hunts will offer all of the Masters and National affiliations the opportunity to attract and possibly increase the number of entries and hunter’s with the opportunity to gain points in the larger entry hunts. We will also be posting more details of this program in the upcoming months.

Both of these are very positive ideas, presented and approved for 2016 by the Masters directors. The Masters thanks each and everyone for their continued support.

    Happy Hunting,

    Clif Parker
