Sunday Hunting is the purpose of HB#640 “Outdoor Heritage Act”. The bill is in the Senate Rules Committee, indicating the Republican Caucus has not yet decided what to do with the bill.



This week, the NRA and some wealthy hunters are making their big pitch to NC Senators.
A few are walking the halls, and seeking support for Sunday hunting. They must be getting desperate. In an email blast sent on 5/20/15, the NRA seeks to persuade members to support Sunday gun hunting. Part of their latest email reads as following:



In essence, restrictions on Sunday hunting tacitly endorse the view of animal “rights” extremists that there is something wrong with hunting.



Really?



The NC Sporting Dog Association was formed in 2004 to fight the animal rights movement and protect dog hunting in NC. We have been fighting for dog hunters ever since. We have stopped the Puppy Mill every time it has been introduced. We support the Second Amendment, the right to hunt, and the right to hunt with dogs. We oppose Sunday hunting, and know it would be a step in the wrong direction for the many reasons we have discussed.



Today, a Senator’s Legislative Assistant told us they are receiving many calls from self-identified NRA members who oppose Sunday hunting. Thank you, NRA members!



There are more of us than there are of them! A majority of North Carolinians oppose Sunday hunting. Senators need to hear from you. Your calls and emails are working!



To win this fight, you must continue to speak out for what you believe.



Now is the time to contact Senators and politely ask the Senator to vote NO to Sunday hunting.

Received and email back from Sen. Bill Cook. He said that he has received propsitions from nearly every county in District 1 opposing Sunday Hunting and that he himself is opposed to it. He stated that he has received many more calls opposed to this bill than he has in favor of it. Keep calling and emailing. It is working.
