Folks please remember there is FAR MORE TO THIS THAN JUST SUNDAY HUNTING.
A lot of other stuff in this bill is a power grab away from the Legislature and into the Wildlife Resources Dept.
They want more committee Members
They want to tell clubs to get rid of members
They want to give you three tickets and revoke your license
They want to close properties to certain kinds of dog hunting
Some of this is the Landowner Bill we beat a few years back,,Some of this stuff is the things we had them take out then..(it is a starter Kit)
Please contact Senators immediately and ask them to vote NO to Sunday hunting.
House Bill #640 is sitting in the Senator Rules Committee, but one Senator is trying to get it moving. He has asked all Senators to attend a meeting tomorrow afternoon to talk about Sunday hunting.
It is urgent that all Senators hear from you immediately! One of our close friends in the Senate told Joe McClees that the Senators need to hear from many hunters IMMEDIATELY.
Please call or email the Senators and ask them to oppose Sunday gun hunting. Do not forward this email. Write your own, brief email asking the Senators to vote NO to House Bill #640. Be brief and polite.
Time is short! Please take a few minutes to call or email the Senators listed at the bottom of the page.
More later, Joe & Henri McClees

I do not see all of that in the bill as presently written.
More committee members - The bill proposes a new "Outdoor Heritage Advisory Council" within the NC Wildlife Resources Commission consisting of eleven members appointed by the Senate, House, Governor, Commissioner of Agriculture and Wildlife Resources Commission. Duties will be to advise "State agencies and the General Assembly on the promotion of outdoor recreational activities".
Tell club to get rid of members - The bill directs the Wildlife Resources Commission to review current law regarding persons convicted of criminally negligent hunting and determine if current suspension provisions should be expanded or amended. It also directs the Commission to consult with organized clubs and public interest groups and "propose recommendations to address individuals who repeatedly violate club rules and regulations" and "report its findings and recommendations to the 2015 General Assembly when it reconvenes in 2015".
Three tickets and suspension - The bill does include a two-year suspension for conviction of several serious violations of game laws including three convictions for trespassing. Most hunters will agree that the violations cited in the bill should require suspension of hunting privileges.
Close property to dog hunting - I see no mention of closing any property to dog hunting of any kind in the bill. The bill does state that "it is further the intent of the General Assembly to encourage cooperative and neighborly agreements between landowners and hunters to allow legal retrieval of hunting dogs". It does state that a landowner "owes that hunter the same duty of care the person owes a trespasser". This will give the landowner some protection against civil liability when a hunter is retrieving his dog with permission.
The bill does allow Sunday hunting except for migratory birds; using dogs for deer hunting on Sunday is prohibited; hunting within 500 yards of a church or residence not owned by the landowner is prohibited; no Sunday hunting in a county with a population of greater than 700,000. The 500-yard rule for residences is somewhat excessive since theoretically it will require someone to be in the middle of a 200 acre tract with no houses (other than the landowner) in the tract.
The bill is not perfect for all hunters but something is going to change and this may be the best compromise. I have dog hunted in SC for the past 25 years where Sunday hunting is permitted. Most dog clubs (including ours) do not dog hunt on Sunday even if the first or last day of the season is on Sunday. Sunday hunting seems to keep the still hunters happier in our area.
1st Substitute Outdoor Advisory Council for Committee Members...
2nd....(Tell club to get rid of members) - The bill directs the Wildlife Resources Commission to review current law regarding persons convicted of criminally negligent hunting and determine if current suspension provisions should be expanded or amended. It also directs the Commission to consult with organized clubs and public interest groups and "propose recommendations to address individuals who repeatedly violate club rules and regulations" and "report its findings and recommendations to the 2015 General Assembly when it reconvenes in 2015".
( YOU COVERED THAT YOURSELF) None of there business who is in the Club. If member breaks law write him a ticket)
3rd... Three tickets and suspension - The bill does include a two-year suspension for conviction of several serious violations of game laws including three convictions for trespassing. Most hunters will agree that the violations cited in the bill should require suspension of hunting privileges.
(HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT MOST HUNTERS FEEL.....Have you conducted a survey?)
THREE CONVICTIONS IN A LIFE TIME ?? THREE CONVICTIONS IN A YEAR??
4TH.....Close property to dog hunting - I see no mention of closing any property to dog hunting of any kind in the bill.
(Bladen Lake Game Land Closed To Fox hunting 04/01/15 thru 08/01/15 effective 06/15/15 if bill is passed...
(I HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED IT HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT,,,IF SO, I STAND CORRECTED)
5TH..........The bill does allow Sunday hunting except for migratory birds; using dogs for deer hunting on Sunday is prohibited;
DOG RUNNING ON SUNDAY IS ALLOWED,,,CANNOT SHOOT DEER IN FRONT OF DOGS.
6TH...."The bill is not perfect for all hunters but something is going to change and this may be the best compromise."
(COMPROMISE ONLY OCCURS WHEN YOU FIGHT THE FIRST READINGS AND BRING PARTYS TO THE TABLE....NOT STANDING UP AND TAKING WHAT THEY GIVE YOU IS SHEEP BEING LEAD.)
6B.....I have dog hunted in SC for the past 25 years
(THIS IS NORTH CAROLINA.)
6C....."Most dog clubs (including ours) do not dog hunt on Sunday even if the first or last day of the season is on Sunday. Sunday hunting seems to keep the still hunters happier in our area."
(AS STATED IN MY FIRST FEW SENTENCES....MUCH MORE TO IT THAN SUNDAY HUNTING.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST)
