Puppy Mill Bill Update and Sunday Hunting No More Dog update

“Puppy Mill Bill” House Bill #159 may be heard this week

This year’s Puppy Mill Bill is moving, according to Rep. Jason Saine. Call or email your Representative in the NC House. Politely ask your Representative to vote NO on HB#159 “Regulate Commercial Dog Breeders”. Legislators need to hear “NO”. The animal rights radicals are calling in from all over the country, trying to sound like they are all from NC. Don’t let radicals from other states decide our law! Express your opinion to your House member.

Yes, currently there is an exemption in HB#159 for hunting dogs. But any exemption can be removed quickly and easily. NC does not need more rules and regulations on owning dogs!

Use Social Media to communicate with legislators

If you have joined Facebook, comment to the Republican leadership about Rep. Jason Saine’s Puppy Mill Bill, House Bill #159 entitled “Regulate Commercial Dog Breeders”. The NC House Republicans have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/#!/nchousegop?fref=ts that encourages citizens to comment about any proposed legislation. In 2013, the animal rights radicals grabbed that Facebook forum by commenting about how much NC “desperately” needs more laws for dog owners. That is not true! Write short, polite comments about how we do NOT need more laws. North Carolina’s animal cruelty laws are strong and more than sufficient to fight animal abuse. We do not need more regulations imposed on citizens. We do not need additional bureaucracy in government. Enforcement of current laws is effective and necessary.

Sunday Hunting is a BAD idea

House Bill #640“Outdoor Heritage Act” is a tall tale. It was heralded as a multi-faceted bill with something for everybody. Actually, HB#640 is nothing but Sunday hunting. There is nothing else meaningful in the bill. It will come to the House floor soon for a vote. We are told there are more than 30 counties that oppose Sunday hunting and want to opt out of any statewide bill. More County Commissioners are voting against Sunday hunting. For example, on 4/20/15, Lenoir County Commissioners passed a resolution AGAINST Sunday hunting.

Keep up the good work: call your House member and tell him/her to vote NO on Sunday hunting. Call Legislature general telephone (919)733-4111 or go to www.ncleg.net for contact information on all legislators.

    Burke & McDowell County Hunters

Read House Bill 435 “McDowell/Burke Firing from Road”, filed by Rep. Josh Dobson. This bill would prohibit the discharge of a firearm from, on, or across the right of way of Highway 105 or State Road 1238 in Burke and McDowell Counties. Do you hunt here? Please let us know what you think. The bill is schedule for hearing in committee 4/21/15 at 1:00 pm. Read this bill and call Henri McClees if you have concerns about this bill.
