News Updates from the NC Sporting Dog Association
NC WRC 2015 Public Hearings begin next week. Read and print the proposed rules changes as set forth in the 2015 Booklet.
Plan to attend or send a representative from your Club to parti****te in the Public Hearings process. You may also comment on the proposed rules online.
In addition to the proposed rules, the Public Hearings provide an opportunity to express you interests and concerns regarding the future use of Game Lands, including the R. Wayne Bailey-Caswell Game Lands. Members in the central region of NC are particularly concerned with possible restrictions on the use of the Caswell Game Lands.
Please report to Joe McClees on the hearing you attend. If you have questions or comments, call Joe McClees at (252) 671-1585. We have numerous meetings in Raleigh and out of state in January, and will not be able to personally attend all nine of these Public Hearings. We are depending on you to let us know what is going on in your district. Thanks!

Dog Hunters’ Lawyer: Need a trial lawyer on a hunting issue? We recommend Mr. Jeremy B. Smith, Attorney at Law. Jeremy is a dog hunter and the son of Harold Smith, a long time member of the Duplin Onslow Hunters Association. We are impressed with the manner in which Jeremy won a Pender County case last month in which a dog hunter was charged with damage to personal property allegedly caused by his hunting dog running through a home owner’s back yard garden. We want to support Jeremy in his litigation practice. He now lives in the Charlotte area, but is willing to travel within NC to help dog hunters. You may contact Jeremy at www.smithhorton.com. His office tel (704) 625-0691; mobile (704) 292-0075. Email Jeremy at jsmith@smithhorton.com.

NC General Assembly convenes on Wednesday, 1/14/15. Joe and Henri McClees will be there! We look forward to a good year in the NC Legislature, although we know the enemies of dog hunters will be there also. With your help, we will continue to fight the good fight. We fight to keep dog hunting legal and free from unreasonable restrictions and regulations.
Thank you to every individual dog hunter and every Club and Association who has supported our fight to protect our traditions of breeding dogs and hunting with dogs. We appreciate your support! Please keep your membership current. Rejoin online at www.ncsportingdog.org.

Insurance Project. We are continuing to gather membership information from our coalition as we work on our Insurance Project. We plan to send you more information about our Insurance Project as soon as we have gathered information from a sufficient cross-section of our membership. If you have not already done so, please be sure your Club or Association leadership sends to Henri McClees the number of current paid members you have in your Club or Association. We need this information to get a specific insurance proposal to you. For more information on this Insurance Project, email henri@mccleesconsulting.com.
As we enter the New Year, we pray God’s blessings on you and your family, friends, and neighbors. Best wishes for a healthy, safe, and prosperous New Year. Best regards, Henri and Joe McClees
