    pup limping

I have a 7 month old puppy that has never been out of the pen and is constantly limping on his front legs. He holds up the lame leg and it switches which leg is lame from time to time. This has been going on for over a month. The only possible cause I have found on the internet is something called Systemic Autoimmune Disease. Does anybody have any experience with this? Can it be treated and if so with what?

    Re: pup limping

Could be rickets but usually that shows up when the pup is only weeks old. A sign of rickets is week knee and ankle joints that cannot support the pup. He will be able to run then the joints appear to be weak. Rickets can be treated with vitamim D using vitamin D enriched condensed milk and vitamin D tablets from a pet store. Not sure this is the problem. Good luck.
