Most definitely, especially if you run on the outside. Birdseye will show fields and trials not show on a USGS topo map. Plus, from what I have seen rivers/creeks shown on the USGS maps when displayed on the screen are off a slight margin but the aerials are dead on when trying to tell which side of the river/creek the dogs are on.
I think you could easily get away with just using a 4 GB card. I have an 8GB and a 16 GB and if memory serves me right there is a lot of space left. I will check how much memory I used. I don't have the cards with me now though.
I checked my card in my Alpha. I have about less than 1GB on the card and that covers an area of about 4000 sq miles. I can't remember if that is on high or standard resolution, there is not a lot of difference.
Has anyone found the bigger the SD card installed the slower the map is to catch-up? I was told the smaller the SD card the better the ALPHA will respond. I have found the ALPHA is slower than the ASTRO. Thanks, Rodney Jacobs
