    NC Legislative Alert

GOVERNOR MCCRORY seems to be on the same page with animal rights radicals

The NC General Assembly convened this week for the 2014 “Short Session”. We hope it will be short enough for legislators to balance the budget and adjourn without passing any bad dog bills. Last year, the NC House of Representatives passed a “puppy mill” bill, but our friends in the NC Senate stopped it. Thank you, President Pro Tem Phil Berger!

On Wednesday, 5/14/14, Governor Pat McCrory presented his 2014 Budget. One interesting provision would move the Animal Welfare Division from the NC Dept. of Agriculture to the Dept. of Safety. He and animal rights activists admit such a move is designed to get more vigorous enforcement against “puppy mills”.

The NC Sporting Dog Association is determined the AR agenda will NEVER become law in North Carolina. What can dog hunters do to stop the “puppy mill” bill? You can help!

Your first step is to contact the office of President Pro Tem Phil Berger and THANK HIM for stopping the “puppy mill” bill. You may call his Raleigh office (919) 733-5708 and leave a polite message. Email him at phil.berger@ncleg.net. Be brief and polite. Tell him you hunt with dogs. Thank him for protecting our hunting traditions.

Your second step is to forward this email to all your hunter friends. Ask them to help us defeat PETA and the Humane Society of the US (HSUS). All hunters must band together on this issue. AR radicals do not believe we should eat meat, hunt, or own dogs. If your friends do not know anything about AR radicals, suggest they visit the website of Humane Watch, an organization devoted to revealing the true nature of the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) and other animal rights radical groups: http://www.humanewatch.org.

While we will continue to have issues with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission and other regulators, we recognize the radical animal rights agenda is the most dangerous problem for hunters in the long term. Please take these first two steps to be part of the solution to protect the right to hunt with dogs in North Carolina.

Thank you for your interest in protecting hunting with dogs in North Carolina. Join the fight! If you have not already done so, please remit your 2014 membership dues to the NC Sporting Dog Association. Persuade your Club to join. Encourage other dog hunters to join. We need your support. We will be in Raleigh every week for the duration of this legislative session. Please help us as we fight for your rights. Thank you! Joe and Henri McClees
