    Long range antenna GARMIN

Can someone tell me if these longer antenna's for the Garmin dc 30 collars really give you better range.I am thinking i have to do something always losing signal.Where is the best place to order them from, may need the longer whip on the handheld also.Just got this 220 and trying to work out a few bugs.I think i may need the truck antenna also not getting enough range, we hunt bigger blocks. Thanks for any help Bruce

    Re: Long range antenna GARMIN

Ok Bruce there are several things that will cause you to loose range with the DC 30 collar:

Broken antenae-this can be hard to tell due to the rubber cover. Intermittent signal is a good sign it is the antenae. The fix would be to get one of the Good after market antenae from Bruce Conkey Supply or DU Supply - both are good.

Collar Computer needs to be reset-this requires taking the Collar apart and disconnecting the battery from the Circuit Board. This sounds harder than it is. Once disconected wait a bit then plug everything back together. I've had collars drop from 2.5 miles to 300 yds of service and due this "Reboot" and have 3 miles of service afterwards.

I also would highly recomend the 14" antenae for the Reciever that DU Supply sells. They work on Astros and Alphas and will generally give you range close to what the roof mount will.

    Re: Long range antenna GARMIN

Thanks John i will try that.

    Re: Long range antenna GARMIN

You want to get the extended range antenna for the truck, that is way to go.

Also...just like previously said...the extended range collar antennas from DU Supply work really good. They recently made a change to them and shortened them a little because so many were breaking, but in my experience they are still much better than the stock antennas.

Next thing you need to figure out if you are loosing communications with the collar or they are loosing the GPS signal. There is a difference.

I myself would like to know how to rest them and take the collar apart...cant figure that one out.

    Re: Using two gps 220

Used two handheld today one never lost signal, but mine lost signal constantly. The message said lost communication with dog two. Thanks for the help.BRUCE

    Re: Using two gps 220

If one 220 was working fine and the other not, I would check the nut on the top of the 220 to see if it is broken. This where the antenae screw into the 220.

You may try a MASTER reboot on the 220, that may help.

Other than that you may have a 220 that needs to be exchanged.

    Re: Using two gps 220
