Re: Top ten To Top 15 or 20

Quote:
What ever you give back only give to top 10 hounds.
The speed hunters have spoken, I reckon at every hunt the only hound to a few that's any count is 1st place in speed. If that were the case and actually had a slight bit of merit I would build a Grey hound track.
Let's see how many hunts have there been where a pack score in the last 5 minutes made the difference for 15th or 5th. There was a hunt not long ago where 85 points separated 25th to 1st so I reckon the last 15 were not any count. Well if you look at the facts that 85 point spread can be beat with three 2nd place crossings, .oh I for got 2nd is the first place loser to some. I'm sure that there are a plenty hunts where a pack score or a couple Hounds get together and in the last 30 minutes could go from 30th place to first.
National rule best scored position in a ten minute time period. With that rule 5 Hounds could every one score as high as 105 points. How many times has the scores been closer than that?? Plenty and let's not think about the 5 minutes now your looking at 210 points. And when you keep every score it's a crap shot.
I've had so many times I got beat by 5 points I can't count. Placed 6th tied with 2nd five points out of 1st. from 6 to 1st a total of 5 points. Been on the other got a 1st place because my hound followed the track in got 1st place with 5 minutes to go and I went from 15th to 3rd. You know what I clapped for 15th same as 1st and went and shook the hand of 15th. The same thing goes regardless how many places you give out. 200 Hounds and you got the 20th place hound that means that hound was in the top 10 percent of the Hounds there. The All American let's the top 15 percent run the last day. If I'm right that hunt is one of a few grade 1 hunts. Best of the best. How many times has the last place or the hound that came up in the 10 percent range won the hunt. The hound that got the first place with 5 to go got it by being the better hound and staying on the track rather than blow it up. Just saying that's where the proof the best don't always win so I'll clap for 20th or take the 20th place and be happy. It's supposed to be about having a good time enjoying the running but instead its getting to be any thing but it's more about Calcutta money And breeding to a hound that drops a ch a time or two. If you got crap and mix it with gravy you still got crap. Know what your feeding and running and getting a hound in the top 10 or 20 percent consistently out of the Hounds running and you got a decent hound. I'd rather own and breed a hound that's placed 12th 10th 15th consistently than a hound that wins one hunt.
Now that is out of the way back to the price of competing and prizes, Not complaining any I got trophies and if I go to a hunt will be happy with another one but I got trophies that have not moved, where a leash or collar or shirt gets used. 12 dollars gets a shirt with name kennel whatever you want, what kind of trophies are 12 bucks. GEzz la wheeze never thought asking what the majority hunters thought about a good prize for placing would be this difficult to get a straight answer. Just buy smaller trophies and knock 10 bucks off the entry fee.
