Re: TICKS TICKS TICKS??????

I agree with David, to each his own. I'm not pushing the tags, I just know they have worked for me for three years and havn't had any adverse reactions. As far as them getting into the blood stream I find that very hard to understand. They never touch anything but hair and there is no blood in the hair. If they were touching the skin somewhere I could see how that would be possible but by putting them on the collar against the hair on the neck I can't see how that could be possible but maybe so. i don't know but as I said earlier, I havn't had any problems with them at all. i do not recommend hanging them from the collars so they can breath the fumes of a full sized tag, I don't think that is a good idea, but when it is made into a loop and only half of it is exposed to the air around the dog and it is behind the head so it is not very easily inhaled, I havn't had any problems. You can rest assured that most vets will tell you not to do this. This method costs them money, they had rather you use something that they have. I can understand that, they need to make a living so I'm not complaining but to think that a Vet will say it is ok is not very practical. Again, I'm not pushing the tags, I just am saying that I fought ticks for many years, lost several really nice hounds to the various tick fevers, Erlichiosis, Rocky Mt Spotted Tick Fever, and Lyme disease and havn't had a sick dog in the last 3 yrs since I started using the Purple Pyton cattle tags. Also many of you have lost hounds to Kidney failure and if the truth was known, the reason for the Kidney failure was probably one of the tick fevers. Most of the tick fevers attack the kidneys and therefore are very deadly. Folks its not normal to have as many hounds lost to kidney failure as I hear about, this shouldn't be happening very much at all and I hear about it all the time. Tick fever is deadly
