In February a few people got together at the RVFD and decided to have a county hunt. In order to run in the hunt you must live in Warren County or must be a active member of a hunting club that hunts land in Warren County. The hunt will be held at Tar River fox pen on May 22nd, 2010. It will be a One Class HGA hunt. Hunters can begin reserving numbers April 1st by calling Jonathan Bender at 252-213-2661.
The cast time will be at 6:00 a.m. and roll call around 5:30 a.m. Everyone need to be there by 5:00 a.m. to register dogs. The entry fee is $20 per dog and Danny Joe Norwood is the MOH. There has been some question about what the proceeds of the hunt are going to. This is a County Hunt and the hunter that show up for this will decide what to do with any money that is left over. The whole purpose of this hunt is to get all the houndsman of the county together for a hunt, not to raise money. I would like to see the group elect a President and some Board members some we can make this a annual hunt. I would encourage anyone who is not sure about running their hounds in a fox pen to just try one this year and see what it is like. If not at least come out and fellowship with us.
