C&M Puppy and Derby Hunt 2/9/19

Well we were truly blessed Saturday with no rain but being prepared for a kind of mild day turned out to be brutal with the cold wind. It was still a great day for a field trial and we had a good one. Scores were not quite as much as usual because the hounds seem to all want to run the same game at the same time but everything went smooth. I owe the success of the hunt to: Good dogs, good judges and good help with the scoring, good help in the kitchen and all around good cooperation from everyone. I want to thank my friend Kevin Howell for serving as Master of Hounds and doing a great job and Johnny Shaw for doing a great job as Bench Show Judge and Zander Holden for serving as Ring Master and also doing a great job. The other judges also did great jobs and were as follows: Joey Fowler, Butch Howell, Kevin Howell, Bill Holden, Tommy Carter, Zander Holden, Gerald Benton, Carson Strickland, James Benton, Keith Wiggins, and Duck Britt.
I want to thank Cari Hayes for helping Hilda take entries, calculating the scores and for selling 50/50 tickets. She always does a superfast job. I also want to thank Lisa McShane for helping me cook breakfast and lunch and for taking up the meal money, taking pictures and posting results and pictures.
Also thank you Preston Watts for your help in the kitchen and all that you do. I could not put on a hunt without you guys and girls. Unless you have done it you don’t know just how much work there is to do. I appreciate you all, especially my wife Hilda who takes care of me.
