The North Carolina Concerned Sportsmen Association held their spring field trial at Walnut Creek Fox Preserve on February 26, 2011.This was a two class HGA hunt. There were hounds from many different parts of the state that showed to support their rights as hound owners and hunters. There were 256 total hounds entered. In the derby class, it took 160 points to get in the speed and drive and 455 points to win it. In the all age class, it took 175 points to get in the speed and drive and 315 points to win it. The running was good for the windy conditions.. We were blessed by a little rain on Friday which helped the running conditions. At cast, the temperatures were chilly, but not too cold. We were set just right for an action packed full of five hours of running. It took a lot of work to make this hunt a success. We had a lot of folks donate time, energy, and money to help with the hunt. We would like to thank Highball for having the pen well stocked and running great. We would like to thank the following for their donations: Robbie and Bobby Patterson, Mike Melvin (Breakwind Kennels), Joey Benton (It’s All Good Kennels) , Sammy Flowers (Eagle Island Fruit Stand), Milam’s Hardware, Jerry and Stephanie Locker for helping with the trophies, and all the judges who donated their time.
