Westboro Baptist Church attacks victims of Victoria bushfires, plans mourning day picket
THE religious group that condemned Heath Ledger to hell for his role in Brokeback Mountain, is back – this time attacking the victims of the Victorian bushfires in Australia.
The Westboro Baptist Church – founded by Reverend Fred Phelps in Topeka, Kansas - claims that sinning Australians are the cause of the bushfires that raged across Victoria, and plan to picket the national day of mourning on February 22.
In a statement, the group says “God hates Australia” and “thank God for the fiery deaths of hundreds”.
“The guilty Australians will not repent of their national sins of the flesh … even after God killed hundreds in the fires and cast them
into hotter fire and brimstone in hell,” it says.
The controversial church - whose core belief is that God will punish those who support homosexuality - has previously had its
sights on Australia, slamming The Dark Knight star Heath Ledger for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain and
protested at the late actors memorial services in the US.
The fundamentalist US church is notorious for picketing the funerals of dead soldiers, brandishing signs that say “America is
Westboro Baptist Church are a sick bunch of SOB's, should they and their crazed followers picket the National Day of Mourning, it will be the last thing they do. This outrageous threat is unheard of in Australia.

Allegedly some fires have been lit by arsonists. No prayers for arsonists, the severest punishment possible should be dealt and hopefully will be. Allegedly one that has been apprehended is being held in an undiclosed location.
