Mascherano knocking on Hammers exit door

London-Argentinian World Cup star Javier Mascherano has told struggling West Ham that he wants to leave the club after being frozen out under new boss Alan Curbishley.

The central midfielder, reportedly a target for Liverpool and Real Zaragoza, has grown disillusioned at his failure to command a regular first team spot and was reported Thursday to have said: "I must get out of here.
"I cannot stay at West Ham any more like this, without playing. At my age my game will stagnate if I don´t play."
He added: "I came to England to do well but I have not had the opportunities necessary to show what I can do."
Mascherano, 22, has made just seven appearances for West Ham since arriving at Upton Park in August along with international team-mate Carlos Tevez.
Neither player has reproduced the kind of form that made them stars for their country in Germany in the summer, although Tevez´s trickery has made him a big hit with the east London club´s fans.
Curbishley meanwhile is believed to have targetted West Brom´s Scotland international Nigel Quashie as he seeks to add a bit of steel to his midfield.
Mascherano´s position is complicated by the fact that he played for Brazilian side Corinthians in July and would need special dispensation from FIFA to be allowed to join a third club in the same season.
West Ham are currently third from bottom of the Premiership, four points adrift of Wigan, who currently occupy the last survival spot in the division.

He and Tevez should head to Italy or Spain as soon as possible ......

I heard Juventus has an interest for Macherano. Tevez should have played for Chealsea not West ham. or maybe Aston Villa.
I hope Carlito's way can turn things around.

Liverpool seek FIFA clearance to sign Mascherano

LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Liverpool are seeking clearance from FIFA to sign Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano from Premier League rivals West Ham United.

"We have received correspondence from Liverpool and as in any other situation where a request is made a case has been opened," said a spokesman for soccer's world governing body.

FIFA rules state that while a player can register with three clubs during a season, classified as running from July 1 to June 30, he can only play for two teams in that period.

Mascherano featured for Corinthians on his return from the World Cup in Germany before moving to West Ham in August.

The 22-year-old joined along with international team mate Carlos Tevez but has featured in just seven games.

Re: Mascherano knocking on Hammers exit door

LONDON (AFP) - Liverpool appear to have won their battle to sign Argentina World Cup star Javier Mascherano after FIFA ruled that the midfielder could sign for his third club in less than a year.

With less than 24 hours to go until the end of the January transfer window, world football's governing body on Wednesday issued a green light for Mascherano to move to Anfield from West Ham, whom he joined from Corinthians of Brazil on the last transfer deadline day in August.

Liverpool were awaiting final clearance for the move from the FA Premier League, who were understood to have no objections to the deal going through.

Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano finally became a Liverpool player on Tuesday after the Premier League approved his move from West Ham United.
Mascherano, who had already played for two other clubs in the past 12 months, was given special permission by FIFA for the transfer at the end of last month but the Premier League said on 1 February it would take time to consider the application.

"The Premier League has today confirmed that the application by Liverpool FC to register Javier Mascherano as a player has been accepted," it said on its website.

"The Premier League is satisfied that the contractual arrangements proposed by Liverpool are consistent with its rules."

Under FIFA rules a player cannot play competitively for more than two clubs between July 1 and 30 June the following year. Mascherano had already appeared for Corinthians in Brazil and West Ham in England during that period.

FIFA ruled in January that the 22-year-old, who only completed two full matches for West Ham in a total of seven appearances, was an exceptional case partly because the South American and European seasons overlap.

There were no details of the contract agreed, although it has been widely reported by the media to be an 18-month deal.

I really wish him the best of luck at Liverpool.... (even though I can't STAND them)and I'm sure he'll do well!!!
