I have in my possession a number of documents, supplied by elderly neighbour (Alan Plews) without internet access. He is the son to a 14277588 Sgt Joseph Plews:
Army Book X 801 - Soldiers Release Book
Army Form X 202/B - Certificate of Transfer to the Army Reserve
Army From W52258 - Record of Service
The W5225B states he served with General Service Corps (GSC) fm 03/09/1942 to 14/10/1942, Royal Artillery fm 15/10/1942 till 14/10/1944 and then final service with the Essex Regiment fm 15/10/1944 to discharge on 27/10/1946.
Alan has informed me that his father was a 'Chindit' and my brief research conforms that one of the two combat battalion saw service in the China-Burma-India theatre.
Seems his father spoke nothing about his time during the war and gave very little away about his time overseas.
I would be very grateful if you could supply me with information about any Essex action during the time Sgt Flews served. Or indeed if anyone has any information regarding Sgt Plews.
