Do you know anyone who was evacuated to Thorpe Thewles in WW II ?

The Thorpe Thewles History Group is looking to make contact with anyone who was evacuated to the Thorpe Thewles area during the Second World War. We know from the research done for our recently published book, “Thorpe Thewles of Grindon Parish – A History”, that children from the Sunderland area and even some from London were evacuated to the area between September 1939 and May 1945. We believe that most of those who came from Sunderland were from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic School.

If you or one of your parents or relatives were one of these evacuees we would love to here from you.

Initially we can be contacted at…

tt.hg@virgin.net

…or you may write to us sending any correspondence to Mark Smith c/o Thorpe Thewles History Group, Grindon Parish Hall, Durham Road, Thorpe Thewles, Stockton-on-Tees
TS21 3JN.

Thanks in advance

Mark Smith
