I think the year was 1958, we were deployed to Malta. I was one of the ground pounders that went to Karachi, Packistan

The night before we were to depart for Malta, the plane us ground pounders were flying out on in the morning, fell off the jack. I understand one of the wing spars bent, and could not be fixed. We were told to hitch-hike back to Malta.

Here we sit w/o transportation. I forget who was with me, except one guy, Pat ? AEC. We finally caught a Connie from Karachi to Dahran(sp)AFB Saudi Arabia. From Saudi we caught an R4Q to Port Leodi(sp)French Morocco.

We all got us a bottle of something, called Malta, and were told they would send a plane for us. By the time LH-? arrived, we were all in great shape. My tour in VP-21 was one of the best times of my career.
