french beans

i planted some french beans in large pots up against my garage.the problem i have is that a lot of the bottom leaves are turning yellow and therfore have to be removed.what are the main causes of this and how do i stop it getting worse.

First, don't worry if this happens to a few leaves on each plant, just remove them.

If it's more than a few leaves, it may be that you planted them out (or sowed them) a little too early. Those early leaves may have have been affected by the cold and are now dropping off.

One final reason. A shortage of nitrogen. If that's possible, then chuck a handful of growmore around them per square yard / metre. Water well.
