Peas

I am thinking about growing peas. I am going to use the wigwam support. I am wondering if when the plant grows it wraps arout the canes itself or is help required. If so how do i do this.

Re: Peas

Hi Adam

Don't bother with "wigwams". Peas don't grow that tall. The best method is "pea-sticks". Basically, support sticks (about 3ft) and place them in the ground a couple of feet apart and then use string straight across. You will get more peas in a row. I use those plastic-coated green wire fences (they are about the same height as peas), peas attach themselves to that.

Re: Re: Peas

How far apart to you space the peas in the rows and how far do you space the rows. Also how many lines of string will i put between the poles?

Re: Peas

The best information will be on the seed pack. Failing that, plant every 30cm (1ft) with rows about 60cm (2ft) apart.
