pruning Jap maple damaged by freeze

I have a Japanese Maple that had leafed out, then had all its leaves killed by a hard freeze Easter weekend (16 degrees F for several nights). It is just now putting out a few new leaves and they are all along the trunk and major branches. I would like to keep this tree from getting so large and was wondering if I should prune it now while most of the smaller branches and stems are bare or should I wait until late fall? Thanks for suggestions.

Re: pruning Jap maple damaged by freeze

I think your tree has had a bit of a shock, so I'd wait until the dormant season.
