Growing onions in wide row

I would like to plant some sweet onions such as Walla Walla in my 3' wide raised bed garden. I would like to plant these with a 6" x 6" spacing so for every 1' length of 3' wide row I would have 12 onion plants. I realize I will need to fertilize them more than normal because of the wide row. Is this spacing I plan on ok?

your spacing is fine, in fact i think you could go for even closer spacing. basically the raised bed system is more economical on space, you need to watch your irrigation, and mulch with loads of organic matter. you will probably find this site useful:
