The parsnips I have growing have very large leaves but the root does not seem to be developing (most are just showing above the soil but seem to have stopped growing any further). I am growing them individually in 12" diameter by 16" deep pots filled with a mixture of sifted soil and compost. By the way I am living in Turkey with the relevant weather. Do the leaves need trimming or turning down as with onions for the root to develop further.
