David Bowie at the Bay Shores Night Club Somers Point NJ 1975

As a teenager spending his summer in Ocean City NJ in 1975 and spending most of my nights at either the Bay Shores or Tony Mart night clubs, I remember one night, at the Bay Shores hearing a bit of a commotion behind me as I was walking in the parking lot towards the main entrance of the Bay Shores, as I turned around I saw a man, followed by a few kids, who looked just like David Bowie. When he entered the club a few seconds after me he was introduced by the lead singer of one of the two bands performing there that night, subsequently, after being invited onto the stage, he performed, if I recall correctly, the song Major Tom.
The man looked just like the David Bowie that you would have seen on the cover of the Ziggy Stardust album. Since my main endeavor was the pursuit of a good time I didn't make much out of this, it is only a few years later that I questioned myself on the authenticity of the person that I saw and heard singing that night at the Bay Shores. I remember at the time that it seemed a little unreal and didn't know quite what to believe. The idea of an unaccompanied rock star unexpectedly walking in a regular night club just as a regular client would do, made me doubt that it was really him. Now just out of curiosity, would anyone have any idea as to how this information could be verified? That is, the presence of David Bowie one July or August night of 1975 at the Bay Shores Night Club in Somers Point NJ nearby the Tony Mart’s where the movie Eddie and the Cruisers was shot a few years later.

Thanks,

Bob
