I don't think there has been any thing submitted to end hound hunting altogether but there has been several proposal to DGIF to adopt similar regulations to Georgia and Florida and even acreage limitations. The big thing is to prepare for the fight ahead instead of waiting for it to start.
the state of florida says you can run in the wild 7 days a week. 52 weeks a year. as long as you are on your own property leased or owned. it does have to be 1000 continuous acres. there are no more fox pens if thats what you mean. deer hunting in most areas with dogs is about two and a half months. some counties have stopped deer hunting with dogs but you can run fox coon etc in those counties. the state does however not take kindly to your dogs being on someone elses property but with the technonlogy we have today there really is no reason for your dog to be on someone elses land
It's the acerage that they are talking of I wasn't sure what the exact was. And there argument is landowners rights if I own the land then I should be able to hunt how I wish
It is illegal to run deer out of season in Florida. There is a deer dog training season for a couple weeks befor the regular hunting season opens. If a game warden catches your hound running a deer out of season and you are not present or attempting to catch the dogs off the deer you will probably be written a citation. You can run rabbit, coon, fox, coyote and bobcat year round.
if you own the land or lease it you should absolutely be able to do what you want. i have a 100 acre fox pen just sitting there. as far as the technology goes as chase said. i was referring to garmins and shock collars. we have it pretty good here as far as running in the wild goes but if land owners keep complaining it may not be so good.
CARL was man enough to put his name up and well appreciated as the site ask you do that also. It's the name wondering that has me puzzled are they wondering how to get us or wondering what houndsmen know?Just a thought.
Best advice i can give every dog owner in the country is to stay the hell off the internet and social media with everything your dogs run and every little video and piece of information in your life dealing with hunting. Folks need to wake up the internet and social media has ruined our way of life and it will be the downfall of dog hunting. Simple as that.
I thoroughly agree with the internet statement. We all need to be responsible for our actions, and try to get along with all hunters even when we disagree with them. We are in for a long and difficult battle with the anti dog hunters.Treat them as you would want to be treated and let God judge them.May the Swamp Music ( As Lynyrd Skynyrd called it) be heard for many years to come.
