    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

    Guess not.

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Well, its all just a matter of preference. Here in East Texas, the worst thing that has ever happened to us is when the deer came in. In the 50's there were no deer and we had red's and grays, and wolves(not coyotes but wolves), and we could go anywhere in this county and turn hounds loose and run without running into any problems. After the allmighty deer came into this country everyone who had as much as 10 acres started fighting us because they were afraid we were going to run their precious deer off and now in the area I live it is suicide to try to run hounds in the wild. Its pens or nothing. I wish there were enough coyotes here to kill every deer. I still hate deer, but again, that is just my preference and I know many of you don't feel this way and thats ok but I had rather have the woods full of coyotes than deer any day. Again, just my preference. You are more than welcome to kill every deer on my place but you're gonna get in trouble if you start trying to kill the yotes. I love to hear them howl at night and even though they are everywhere, I can't turn dogs loose because most of the people who live around me will shoot them if they get on their place, so I have to load hounds up with coyotes howling withing 300 yards of my dogpens and drive 50 to 100 miles to run in a pen. Leave my yotes alone and kill all the deer you can. I can't even drive home at night without dodging deer to keep from hitting them with my truck. Like I said, I hate them.

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Well, Don, after reading your post, it ain't a doubt in my mind "you don't like Deer". I still try to Deer hunt here in N.C. with hounds but like most all hunting its got too many things trying to run it in the ground also. Lets keep at it as long as we can. You reckon Obama is going to take that on too?

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

George, you are right but I understand that many of you guys do and this is a free country so more power to you. I am enjoying running in the pens so I am doing OK. And yes, I am totally convinced that Obama would love for this country to be totally disarmed and all hunting stopped, but hopefully he won't be able to pull this off.

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Don I feel the same way!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Don it sounds like you need an old truck with a nice sturdy brush gaurd on the front

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Johnathan you are right but I had a buck run into the side of my truck a couple of years ago, ha, ha. The brush guard wouldn't have helped.

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

I know what you mean, just not use to them around here and they are no good to us.Worst thing that happened to Virginia hunting.

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

My dad and I always ran red fox while I was growing up and I really enjoyed it but then the coyotes moved in here and I actually learned to enjoy running them even better. Now in most of the pens in this area coyotes work much better and I truly running them and can run in these pens and hear most of the running, very seldom are they out of hearing and can usually sit at the campfire and here great running all night so I love coyote running. Butttttt, as you can see, the deer ruined our outside hunting so that is why I feel the way I do. As I said originally to each their own and its just a matter of preference. Happy hunting

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Im with James...for a low life rabbit hunter such as myself they are the worst thing ever...especially when they kill a fairly nice rabbit dog you been feeding~

    Re: COYOTE KILLIN

Never forget the first time I ever heard coyotes howl in this area. It was around 1960 and my dad and I had some great red fox hounds and we were running a red one night and the coyotes started howling just north of us and we didn't have a hound that would go to them, buttttt I quickly got a couple of good wolf hounds and put them with my pack of foxhounds and from that time on we ran coyotes, to me its a faster, more aggressive race and I just get more excited about a pack of hounds after a coyote than a fox. I enjoy both but really love running coyotes. Now that we have had to go to pen running coyotes are the only way to go. The fox are hard to keep in the pens and they just are just not as adapted to run in pens as well as coyotes. I NEVER fail to have all night running now. I am having the time of my life and I am very thankful to my God for allowing me to do it.
