They work fine, friend of mine uses one and has the same range as any of the others.

thats what couple people told me it would track 6-7 miles thanks darin. One more thing, how do you tell how far they are when the meter on MAXrange and Shortrange, say i have it on MAX and it bounces to 4 everytime how bouts how far do you know???? and the same when i put it on Shortrange?????

that depends on the terrain.its a awesome box tracks as far as any of em..and is ver simple to use.the more ya use it the more about distance from you they are.had and still got one.its over 20 yrs old
