7 1/2 Years of George Bush

TO ALL MY FRIENDS....LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE........FYI only.
George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!...

But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got 'CHANGE' all right. In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR
STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE...AND WE SURE GOT IT! .
REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.
AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

the republicans had a filibuster proof majority the first four years of bush. they couldnt use that to any advantage and people were ready for change. I read that only 13% of americans think congress is doing a good job, and you can bet each party will think it is the other that is at fault,,two party politics at its best

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

For some facts, watch the documentary 'Saving the Economy'. It has been on the Fox News Channel. The mortgage mess started in 1999 with Clinton signing into law a bill that allowed riskier loans to be made. In 2002 (or 2003) another bill was proposed to allow even more risk - govt. got a kick back and banks charged fees therefore everybody was happy. By the way, the vote went straight down part lines with the repub. against. The sub-prime market mess just added more air to a bubble that was already huge. Then it busted. The rest is what you see today.

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

Clinton fueled jimmy carter's socialist fire with NAFTA in 1994, and I gladly would take 20 more years of George w. Bush to one of Hussein Obama. I may not be a millionaire but I will keep playing the hand I am dealt till I am, and if I come up short I **** sure want blame it on a president. It's my fault I have ****** my money away on beer, women and hunting, not our government's.

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

if you want real change have an open mind and start petitioning to get rid of the 2 party system.it dont work.one party will not vote against its own party so nuthin ever gets done.it was not set up to be like this ,but we have evolved since the 1800's and the constitution needs to be tweaked along with our present day democracy..what would happen if we elected as a nation an independent who was not bound by a party and wanted america's opinion on what government spending should be on,alternative fuels,drilling in alaska,global warming,every child to be insured,abortion??find out the overall concensus,,and let the nation know when its put before congress,,and buy airtime nationally to show everyone how your state elected congressman voted!!!how many go online to find out how your elected officials voted??i dont..but if it was always part of the local news without the spin you would know..then you could fix the problem at the state level for sure..

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

Danny:

Churches don't have a two party system.

Clubs don't either.

Yet, if you belong to either one you know that there are always two groups and no matter what comes up you will find that if one of the groups is for it, the other one is against it.

One group supports the present president, minister or whatever, and the other is trying to run him out of town on a rail.

So do away with the two party system. You will still have a split in opinions and a fight every time anyone tries to do anything.

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

You can't be talking about the same dumb broad that interviewed with Katie Couric. I can't believe people are willing to vote for her on looks alone, but then again lets face it people voted that dummy in office we have now. He has proved you don't have to be smart to be president by some of the statements he has made ex. The statement he and McCain made about the economy being strong, then having to come back a couple of weeks later talking about how bad it was. It wasn't strong when they said it was and nobody in their right mind should have made such a statement. WE went to IRAQ for weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION and found a few hand grenaids. Now we got to spend Billions rebuilding the country and people over here still don't have health care and Johnny Mc wants us to stay over there. Who is to blame for gas getting to $2.19 a gallon mentioned above? It was .89 per gallon under Clinton. Lets face it Republican or Democrat most (not all) people are going to vote along party lines regardless. Some people say they won't vote for Obama because of his name, the same people wouldn't vote for him if he was republican and his name was Charles Smith.

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

Gas costs what it costs because the dims would not let us drill.

Now they are trying to use polar bears to make it harder to drill in Alaska.

If you think she is dumb, maybe you should read up on her record as governor.

In 18 months she eliminated all state income tax and sales taxes. Instead of spending the oil money on jet airplanes and big monuments in her name, she sends a check to every single citizen of Alaska for their part of the oil money. To be fair, the checks were sent long before she became governor, but under her, they have a huge surplus.

She has enough money in the bank to bail out CA. And have three times that amount left.

She put one grafter in court, he was convicted, fined and is serving a suspended sentence. She got two or three others fired.

She got a gas pipeline under construction that the oil companies sat on for 30 years.

You might think she is a dumb broad.

Would that we had more dumb broads in government.

And she does not go to a church that preaches $$God $$dam$n America and has no friends that killed people with bombs.

And BO will take your guns. He voted for laws in IL that are as bad as the DC laws. He does not even want you to have a gun in your house for protection.

Chicago has those laws. He wanted them state wide but the bill never passed.

Vote for him. Brag about it.

Go ahead and vote for that A-Rab if you want, give it a year and I will Say I TOLD YA SO. I am ready for a change myself, but you cant say the word coinsidence but so many times before the crap is true. You do not support America if you vote for a man name Hussein.

The Following is copied from Masterfox:

Around 1979, Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.

During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they were in college.

When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barak - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans maybe" After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year.

Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York. By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year.

Rezko was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association.

About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans?

After law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which was Rezko's firm.

Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than the asking price. With ALL those Student Loans, where did he get the money for the property? On the same day, Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price.

The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko. Now we have Obama running for President.

Valerie Jarrett was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

On May 10, 2008, the Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama was 'sacked after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas,' which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran.

This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'take care of things.'Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that were born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all these 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East? And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, the Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on "This Week' with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith...' When questioned, 'he made a mistake.' Some mistake! All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barak Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett; Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times, May 10, 2008.

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

Shanks, the comments MCCain made about the Economy, are spot on, the fundamentals are still true, but when you have the democratic party inflating the numbers for 5 yrs of freddie mac and frannie may, people putting there 401k's in stuff the numbers don't add up, but the roots are still there get a second job, buy low, sell high, and don't expect government to do everything for you! There have been ups and down before, markets go up and down. But the real thing other countries are scared of is an Obama presidency raising corporate taxes, and tariffs on imports hurts everyone, the consumer #1! Class seperation is another ploy to get votes!

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

claude sutton,i agree with your views on whats wrong,but whats the solution?your congressman hide behind their party sheild because they know you and i and our communuties are too lazy to do the research and too self occupied with surviving to do anything about it.i would love to see the day when one community united to inform their elected official that they knew a certain bill was comin to the floor for a vote and they want him/her to vote this way,,and then other communities caught on,,and then the whole state caught on,,then half of america caught on..you would then see change for the better..only when your elected reps. know you are watchin will they do the right thing..but for now it will continue to be the favor swap..do for me here,and i'll do for you there..what would happen with a demo pres and a repub vice pres or vice/versa?

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

one more note claude,i understand there is always someone that is gonna disagree in the 2 party system..thats what has kept away real progress for our nation for many years..i believe america as a whole can make the right decision..if everyone in their district nationwide would petition or call their congressman when a bill arised that majority america wanted passed for the greater good,it would send a ripple effect through congress..its still the peoples government,we just have been convinced its not..

Re: 7 1/2 Years of George Bush

Danny:

You asked what to do about it.

Then in your next post, you answered your own question.

Write your congress critters, both in the senate and the house. Call them if you can.

You will talk to some paid phone operator and not the man himself, but they tally the fors and against so your call will be counted as a vote for or against.

I think it just as important to talk to people who are on the wrong side, providing that they are reasonable people who either have not heard all of the facts or people who have not had the time to study.

You waste time with the looney fringe that are against anything and everything just because Bush is in office.

As someone said, those people would vote for someone who Bar-B-Ques babies if that were the dims candidate.

We are getting pretty close to that now.
