Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

I just wanted to bring some things to the table. first of all i hope the hounds are doing well that were injured at the virginia state 3 day this past weeknd at billy pooles. We as fellow hunters should consider talking with billy poole or the virginia state association on helping the hunters with vet bills. These are good hunters that enjoy and spend alot of time at pooles. I know of talking to other people and found out that Mark Wright and Wayne Elliot had hounds hurt pretty bad. The bear in the pen didnt help these matters out a bit. I feel for the young guy Porkchop, i dont know the mans real name but heard of him having some nice hounds at a young age. The rockhead dog, a very nice dog, that is a field champion was extremely in bad shape after getting chewed up on the last day. Thanks to the judges for doing a fantastic job on saving him. If anyone has heard about this hound i would like to know how he is doing. Alot of people showed real friendships helping porkchop. this is what its all about, going somewhere and having friends that are like family even if you dont know them or just met them. Thanks Ronnie!

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

Very true, and good to hear. Too many times when you go to a field trial nowadays, a lot of the sportsmanship has dissapeared and people are too worried about themselves. Glad to hear that wasn't the case.

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

Why should Billy Poole be responsible for vet bills? It wasnt his fault the bear got in the pen. Last i checked to sign on the gate said ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

No he shouldnt be responsible for the vet bills but he should let someone go in the pen and shoot the bear Oct 10th the bow season on bears is open statewide!!!

It happens.... its a shame but its part of the game. If you run long enough it will happen again.

Conservation officers have already taken care of the bears...... Really unfortunate situation for all involved but it is what it is!

Re: Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

At on of the last one day hunts, all they did was run a bear. So, it is safe to say he had heard of the bear. Why is it that this part of state has quite a few bears, but last year had no bear season. Can you shoot a bear (with gun) this year? Hunter

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

yeah wyatt,it is a shame what people will do for a piece of polished wood with/without a clock-i've seen them juiced up,shot up,medicated up,and some other kind of up i didn't quiet understand-to me that says a whole lot about the owner-because in the long run i don't think the dog ever fairs too good-but to the owner, who cares-rite

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

That's the difference between(some of you ) pen hunters and true outside foxhunters. You would never catch a real foxhunter juiceing up his dogs. Because even if he knew no one else would find out, he hiself would know. A foxhunter does not lie to anyone or anybody else. He sees things the way they are. Which allows him to know a hound when he sees one and allows him to send a cull on his way. Juiceing a hound up for trial is a deadly sin to a real fox hunter. That's for people that don't have what it takes to have hounds. What a sad excuse for foxhuntin.

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

Go to a 3 day hunt and count how many people give there dogs a little something. I bet you everybody there would. Im not saying its a good thing to do but right many dogs can't go 3 or 4days.

no you are wrong on the "everybody would"because i wouldn't-my dog ain't worth that "piece"of wood-maybe thats why i don't have but a few pieces-but the pieces i have came "all natural"from un juiced dogs that CAN make it 3 days-

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

There was a crowd that lost 3 dogs in one field trial not long ago. I think that discredited all the accomplishments they did before. Its sad what winning means to some. They have forgotten what its all about.

Re: Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

What do ya'll consider juicing up a dog? Most people I know use Dex, predisone, bute, rimydle these are nothing more than anti-infammatories. B-12 vitamin which makes them eat and make energy from food. Do yall cosider that juicing a dog up?
You go out and run all day long you will probably take an advil or asprin anti-infammatories. You hurt you leg, back, arm fist thing the doctor gives you is predisone. Nothing different?
The reason dogs act crazy at hunts like this has to do with large numbers, one or two crazy hounds and alot of followers?

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

Bill thats what i was trying to say but didn't know how to word it. The stuff you listed don't make a hound faster at all. Theres other stuff out their that i would call jucing up.

Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

yeah are yall tryin to get rid of foxhuntin? I know yall are all grown n id hope u got brains but yall let the rite person get on here n see yall sayin ppl are "JUICIN" up their dogs itll go into 1 big conflict just like steriods n baseball players ... i love foxhuntin i love the dogs n i dont wanna see some PETA person get on here n look at this ya know... we all run our dogs differently ,some run em 2 much some dont , some win some dont, some "juice" em some dont , ppl will do what they want with their dogs it aint nothing but a thing

Re: Re: Virginia State @ Billy Pooles!

I just want to say i dont know who Ronnie Jackson is or what he has tryed to start on Billy Poole or The Virginia State. I dont hold anything or anyone responsible for the vet bill. Everybody knows wherever you run trials or even pleasure running, anything can happen and its all on your own risk. Rockhead is doing better, field trialing days are pretty much done, but he can produce some nice pups. Thanks to Superman and Jabber Jaw on helping at the hunt with Rockhead. Thanks, Porkchop
