WITH ALL THE TALK ABOUT BAIL OUTS AND SUCH. I WOULD LIKE TOO KNOW WHAT MOST OF YOU FELLOWS AND GALS THINK IS IN THE FUTURE FOR THIS GREAT COUNTRY!!! MLM its hard for me to believe that bailing out the companies that got rich off of us is even an option. It's time for some of the super rich to take a loss. You know even though their companies are going bankrupt their personal income has not changed. Let them all take it like they gave it. Our real problem is that most the US money is in the accounts of 10% of the population. It's time for it to be put back in the system. I can guarantee you that if these big banks, insurance companies, and all other money hungry businesses go bankrupt, someone else will seize the oppurtunity. We will not go without. |

Mr. Mitchell, I have had some good converstaions with you on here concerning hounds, I never thought we would be talking about this.  Seriously, I wish I had something intelligent to say on this post, I am like yourself, I just don't know what is going on in this country anymore....It definately isn't the country of my youth, if I had to pick one thing that I beleive to be the biggest scam, I would have to say big oil...lower the price of gas to $1.75 and it would help me the most.John Foster |

just heard on the news that oil producing countries are going to slow down production, the towel heads dont care if we are hurting. the reason they want to slow production is because the price has dropped to almost 3 dollars a gallon, pump our own and get out from underneath of there power let them eat there oil. We can charge the same price for a bussel of corn as they do a barrel of oil sounds about fair |

john i have been saying for over a year that if gas was under $2.00 a gal the ecomony would take off. i think that everone should make money but what there making off of us is in everything we need. drop the price of gas and watch how much everthing else comes down |

ITS LIKE THIS YES LOWERING THE GAS PRICE WOULD CAUSE AN ECONOMIC BOOST BUT I AM IN CHAROLTTE NC RIGHT NOW AND 50% OF THE GAS STATIONS THAT I HAVE PASSED DO NOT HAVE ANY GAS AND THE OTHER 50% HAVE LINES OF CARS BACKED OUT TO HWY 74. HOW CAN YOU LOWER THE PRICE OF GAS IF YOU CAN NOT GET ANY. AND AS FAR AS THESE BIG BANKS LENDING MONEY TO PEOPLE YOU KNEW IF YOU COULD AFFORD THE PAYMENT BEFORE YOU SIGNED THE DOTTED LINE SO YOU ARE ALSO TO BLAME FOR THIS ECONOMIC TROUBLE BUT IT IS ALWAYS EASIER TO BLAME SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR FAULTS AND ITS NOT A BAILOUT ITS A GOOD CHANCE FOR THE GOV. I'VE ALLWAYS INVESTED AGRESSIVELY.....LIKE SOME OF THESE BANKS WE'RE GONNA BAIL OUT......5 YRS AGO,I MADE A VERY BAD INVESTMENT,.....[MY FAULT]......... IT BANKRUPTED ME....NO BAIL OUT HERE...JUST HARD TIMES AND LESSONS LEARNED..........I'M LUCKY TO KEEP WHAT I COULD....SOME AT THE TOP NEED SOME READJUSTING TOO !............THE TRICKLE DOWN AFFECT DON'T WORK NO MORE !....I'M THANKFUL TO BE BUSY,AND NOTHING BUT HARD WORK WILL MAKE IT ANY BETTER....I'VE ALLREADY SEEN WASHINGTON NOT GONNA HELP THE ADVERAGE MAN ! |

It's called "Privatize the gain, Socialize the pain". Us regular working folks can't afford to buy our way in this poker game the big money folks have been playing. But when they wind up busted flat broke, they just hold out their hands for us regular working folks to pony up enough for them to keep playing. The funny part is they honestly believe we will pay their way back into the game....and it looks like we probably will.

I disagree with all of the above. We are in this mess because of congressmen like Frank, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid and some of the RINO's that vote with them. The above are getting money under the table. It has been reported. They should be kicked out of office. They created this mess by bad legislation, paid for. The only way to get out of it is to reverse the bad legislation of the last 15 years, eliminate the capital gains tax, eliminate the corporate income tax, eliminate the crazy accounting rules that break banks even when they are not broke, eliminate the CRA law that forces banks to loan to people they would never ever loan to otherwise, a rule to prohibit derivatives, some restriction on the sale of mortgages so the bank writing the mortgage has to eat their own mistakes (has to be some flexibility here because sometimes one needs to sell paper to create short term cash as for instance to purchase another bank or build a building, etc.)..... These changes plus drilling for oil everywhere would create so many new jobs and bring investments into the US from all over the world that we would see a boom so big that we would be complaining about too much work and no time to play. I know some of you will say I am nuts for saying we should eliminate the capital gains tax and corporate income taxes, but first ask yourself if you know that the US taxes its corporations at the 2nd highest rate in the world? That is one reason all of the big guys go overseas. Also the corporate income tax is a misnomer. It is not corporate income tax. It is a hidden sales tax. You pay it when you buy a tire or a gallon of gas. You pay 35% on top of the state sales tax, local county tax, etc. People raise cain if the state wants to raise sales tax by 1/4 of one percent, but grin from ear to ear when those rich corporations have to pay more tax. Dummies. They are paying that hidden sales tax and don't even know it. CSSJR |

Excuse me. I made a misleading statement in the above. You pay the corporation's income tax when you buy from them, but the 35% is not added to the price of the product you buy like sales tax is. The 35% is a percentage of the profit made by the corporation. So to make a simple example so we don't all have to break out our calculators; if you buy a tire for your truck that costs $200 and the profit on that tire is $100 (probably close when you figure in the profit of the manufacturer, wholesaler, dealer who mounts it on your wheel), you would pay approximately $35 in hidden sales taxes, called corporate income taxes just to bamboozle you. |

Wal-mart pays 37% percent tax on its profits I would go to china as well! Never got a job from a poor man, Somebody's gotta spend money to make money corporate taxes and socialism are killing this country and opec see it as a time to slow oil production to give us the knockout punch!! When do the people wake up, You are given an opportunity in this country, not a meal ticket! |
