neighborhood center
I tend toward selling the house and putting the money into other worthwhile ventures, i.e. outdoor structures (gazebo-type) at the now beautiful McCallie Park, more banners and poles, and all night block parties up and down Luttrell. But I would like to see the results of the "shape of the house", before committing. I don't think the space is big enough for neighborhood pot lucks and the such. Seems like we have a good deal at the church, now, but how long will that last? As usual, I have more questions than answers....Gordon |

Re: neighborhood center
I'm afraid I don't know much about past uses of the building (or current uses for that matter), but I went a year-and-a-half without ever even knowing that the neighborhood had a community center. If we had it back as a usable building, what would we use it for? What was the stated intent of its donation in the first place? Considering the discontent in the neighborhood over the number of properties that are rentals, it's a little strange to me that the neighborhood itself is a landlord. If the building has to be completely leased in order to pay for its upkeep, it's not able to serve any function for the community. Anyway, I'm a little confused. |
